Sublime black truffles, superb wines, friendly locals and pastoral scenery…what else could a wandering gourmand want?   The forested area of Manjimup may have started out as a timber town, but today the region is best known for its great food and wine. Paired with one of the region’s many acclaimed wines, this makes for a seriously indulgent experience. When it comes to wine, Manjimup is best known for its verdelho and merlot, however the chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir and shiraz are also very good. There’s also plenty of things to do outdoors. Try climbing the 51m Diamond Tree Lookout Tower for a bird’s eye view of the Southern Forests. Swimmers can take a dip at Fonty’s Pool, a favourite spot for picnicking families, while those interested in the region’s history should visit the Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park. The Dingup Church and Pioneer Cairn are well worth a tour, as is the One Tree Bridge which serves as a reminder of the early settlers’ ingenuity. In season the Donnelly River provides plenty of opportunities to catch rainbow trout and marron - although given the standard of the nearby cafes and restaurants, you may not need to catch your own dinner! Things to know about Manjimup.   Manjimup is a beautiful region with an ace up its sleeve – the rare black truffles found in the area. While gourmets will be in heaven, there are also many walk trails winding through the towering forests for those with a penchant for the great outdoors. Most of the wineries are all within easy driving distance of one another and will surprise visitors with their wonderful cooler climate styles.
